Makar Sankranti – 14th January’2017

Sankranti means transition period. Every year on 14^th January Sun changes its path from Tropic of Capricorn to Tropic of Cancer line. We call this transition of Sun from dakshinayan to uttarayan. It is celebrated in India with various names. In Tamil Nadu it is called as Pongal, in Assam as Bihu, in Punjab and Haryana as Lohri and famous name as Makar Sankranti.
